In early 2020 UNANIMA International launched a new style of Membership titled “Friends of UNANIMA International”. This form of membership offers individuals, NGOs, Congregations and other groups who do not fit UNANIMA International’s current Coalition Partner criteria an opportunity to be an active member of the organization.

In February 2020 we had the pleasure of welcoming the first official Friends of UNANIMA International: The Sisters of the Most Precious Blood of O’Fallon, Missouri. They were founded in Steinerberg, Switzerland in 1845 by young German women who were forbidden to establish convents in their homeland. The sisters sought to be contemplative, adoring the Blessed Sacrament and praying for the reparation of sinners. To sustain themselves they began teaching and creating ecclesiastical art. In 1857 they returned to Germany until political unrest forced them to leave again, resulting in their coming to the United States in 1870.

Eventually they  established a motherhouse in O’Fallon, MO. From there, the community’s primary ministry of education led them to teach in many areas of the U.S. and also to minister in Finland, Bolivia, and Peru. Today, most sisters reside in the O’Fallon/St. Louis, MO area, living their mission of reconciliation, and being instruments of Christ’s redeeming love in varied ministries. Recently they have been focused on prayers and advocacy for immigrants and refugees and sharing their mission with lay associates and Partners in Mission.

UNANIMA International would like to take this opportunity to extend a very warm welcome to the Sisters of the Most Precious Blood of O’Fallon Missouri and their associates. We are so excited to have their community’s unique charism and gifts as part of UNANIMA International.
