Civil Society Forum
The first week of CSocD62 concluded with the Civil Society Forum (CSF), which gives civil society an opportunity to “takeover” the UN for a day, and convene panels and sessions related to the Commission’s priority theme. In her capacity as Chair of NGO CSocD, Jean presented introductory and concluding remarks. Along with the opening and closing panels, the CSF was comprised of a networking session and two thematic sessions—the first on “Structural social barriers and transformative policies to social progress,” and the second on “Placing people, rights, and justice at the center of social development: a needs-based approach for people-centered decisions.” To view a recording of Part I of the Civil Society Forum click here, to view Part II click here.–
In the second week of CSocD62, UNANIMA International was selected to present the first NGO oral statement during the 11th Plenary Meeting. Liana presented the oral statement on behalf of UI, Mercy International Association, Good Shepherd Justice Peace Office, and the International Movement ATD Fourth World.
